simple things....

You know, you'd think I'd be used to it by now.....how simple things excite and please JEB so much. Getting an ice cream cone, eating a piece of candy, playing with a ball,......saying hi to a friend...... JEB gets so excited and is totally thrilled beyond belief at doing such simple things.

For instance, each morning on our way to school, we stop and pick up another teacher friend of mine, who works at the school I worked at last year, and then go to JEB's school and then I drop her off and then come home. We usually get to her house (a block away from ours) before she's ready to come out the door. So, when we arrive at her house, the front door is closed and we wait for her to come out. He sits in the back, waiting patiently, saying "Mama, look!".....every so often as he waits for her to emerge.....then as the door is opened, he bounces up and down and shouts "Mama, LOOK!!!"" "" _________'s coming! She's coming!" With the biggest smile you've ever seen on his face! You would have thought, she was the QUEEN of England or something, because he just gives her the biggest welcome!!! She opens the door and he bombards her with "Hi, ________!" and again, the biggest, shyest smile ever! And then they have their little conversation as she buckles up and gets all of her stuff in the car.

I love watching him wait for her.....the anticipation......the sheer pleasure he gets as he sees her come out of her house. It just makes his morning! It's amazing really. What a simple thing.....walking out of a house to the car to go to work for the day. Yet, it brings such pleasure to a little boy, who happens to have Down Syndrome. Amazing.

Thank you FATHER for giving me such a sweet little boy. He makes my day!
