Only 4 1/2 days of school left.....

This has been THE LONGEST WEEK EVER!!! It just seemed to drag on and on and on and on!
We had our Christmas program on Tuesday night and then just regular stuff the rest of the week, but it took forever to get thru!!

I'm so glad it's the weekend and that we will have a mostly short week ahead. This morning, I went out with 4 little girls from my class who had been invited to go on a morning out with me by one of them who purchased the time with me at our annual school auction.

They were so wound up when I got to the school to pick them up!! Then we went to Cracker Barrel to eat. Although, as we walked in a gentleman who was leaving commented about how grandma had her hands full today.........I txtd Jn and told him what the man said and asked him if I looked like a grandma. He replied, no of course not.......I said back - Good answer!! We ate and then went to a bead place, where the girls each made a bracelet and I made a cool necklace. However, it got really busy and we needed to get back to the school to meet their parents, so I had to leave mine and I'll go back another day and do it! It was a lot of fun!!!

Not much else really going on. This weekend will be my baking weekend, so I can't blog-hop too much today!

Later!

Well, sorry I haven't written all week, but it's been a hectic one. My school is performing it's Christmas program and we've had practice every morning and since I knew I was going to be out of Friday, I had to prepare for the sub. Sometimes, it's much more work to have a sub in your class than to just go in......but this was for something very special!!!

JEB and many other special athletes all over our county participated in the Special Olympics on Friday! Most of JEB's class did bowling, which was so perfect for them. We started off by being at a local University for Opening Cermonies. They had the local Marine band there playing intro music and then the color guard was there for the pledge to the flag and the National Anthem. After a few speeches, all of the different schools that were involved each had made a banner that they proudly showed off, in hopes of winning a trophy. Then they had some local cheer squads perform a couple of cheers and some special music was performed by a local choral group from one of the HS's. Then, one special athlete came in and with the Olympic torch and ran to light the Olympic Flame and the games were officially OPEN!!
It was so neat to see all of those special athletes! There were many events going on thruout the day, but we went to the bowling alley, where many elementary age special students were going to participate. They used local Marines to come help the teachers keep the kids organized and sort of under control and to keep everything going at a good pace.
JEB had a blast so did all of his classmates!! This was the first opportunity I had to see his classroom and meet his classmates and I fell in love with them all instantly!! They were all so sweet and loving!! They also take very good care of JEB!
I can't wait to see what other events he can do as he gets older. He got a green ribbon for pariticpation, but a lot of them got place ribbons! I'm so glad I got to go and be a part of this wonderful event!!
Oh, and there's only three weeks til Christmas!!! Are YOU done shopping yet??????

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

I hope everyone has a wonderful turkey day.....enjoy being with your families, friends or simply enjoy being home with just you and your hubby and your kids!

We stayed home (in GA) this holiday and will travel to Alabama at Christmas. BUT I still cook a turkey and all the trimmings, and this year, I'm going to try and get JEB to help me. We'll see how far that goes!!!

Love to all of you out there! Have a very blessed day!!

better....finally!

FINALLY! He's doing much better! It's a good thing, because he has two days of school this week, that I'm certain will be filled with fun things they are doing in their classroom.....just as my kids will be doing fun things!!

Of course, I had planned on spreading them out over the last couple of days last week and the first couple of days this coming week, but those plans are now way out the window. So, tomorrow, we will do two or three of them and finish up on Tuesday, right before we have our Thanksgiving feast!!

JEB is feeling much better. Thanks to all of you who were praying for us. He still is semi-congested and coughing a little bit, but overall he's better and ready for school tomorrow. 6 days cooped up in the house is a little much for a little boy!!

And yes, I'm starting to dig out my Christmas boxes so that I can start decorating. I love Christmas! I love sitting and looking at the tree lights and the crisp, chilly air outside, and of course, the presents. BUT I would much rather give the presents than get them.......I love seeing the face of the recipient light up when they open the package! It's so much fun!!

So, what is your favorite part of the holidays???? Decorating??? Baking goodies??? Seeing family??? Shopping??? Comment and tell me......I'd LOVE to hear about it!!

oops! Too soon!

Man, what a night we had! I went and played 'room' mom to the boys in the cast of our school play last night....had a blast! Earned two free tix for Jn and I to go tomorrow night to the play....but Daddy was having a totally different kind of evening.

First, JEB refused to let dad give him a bath. Fussed about the water temp, cried and whined while poor, helpless daddy was trying so hard to wash him up. Never mind about washing his hair. My little guy is a creature of HABIT, and since daddy wasn't even close to doing it the way we always do it, it was NOT happening. SO......daddy gave him some cough meds and put him to bed. THIS DID NOT GO WELL....coughing, tossing/turning, more coughing........

I came home and he seemed to be sleeping ok. Still a little coughing, but ok. I went to bed around 11pm and then it all hit the wall. Much coughing, wheezing, very rapid breathing, lots of moving around to get him comfortable, cat naps here and there.........lots more coughing, a little more medicine, great difficulty breathing, lots of wheezing, refusal to take his inhaler........fussing about taking his inhaler.........continued refusal to take the inhaler.........more difficulty breathing. Finally, daddy and I had both had it and simply forced him to do the inhaler. VOILA! Within 5 min. he was breathing much easier, but he still wasn't calming down. Soooooo, we hopped in the car, all bundled up and drove around for about an hour. JEB calmed down and finally slept. Went back home, set up camp in my wing chair with many pillows around so he could sleep upright, moved daddy's chair right next to mine so I could comfort him. This was at 2:30am and I had officially been up for 23 1/2 hrs. Let me tell you, this was not very fun!! We were able to sleep till about 5:30am and I had to wake daddy for school.

JEB actually slept until about 9am and has had all meds, including the inhaler and is feeling quite more like himself now. WHEW! Glad it's the weekend and a very, very short week next week....1 1/2 days!!!

I think it's definitely time to decorate for Christmas!!! After my nap, that's what JEB and I are going to do!!

finally....better, and no FLU!

Well, we made it to the dr. this morning, bright and early! Waited for about 30 min. for them to fit us in and they did the nasal swab and no flu!!! Either kind!!! YAY! But he did say it's probably a stubborn sinus infection so he's on a new med and doing way better!!!

No fever this afternoon or evening, so it's back to school tomorrow!!!

sick.....again

The sick one has set up camp in mommy/daddy's room.
Well, he's sick AGAIN! Picked him up yesterday with a fever and then he fell asleep on the ride home.....only about 10 min. Poor baby!!! Ran a fever all night, but was asleep at 6 pm.
Usually, the one of us who stays home with him, sleeps with him so the other parent, the one who has to go to work, can try and get a decent nights sleep. Yeah, right.
So, Daddy did daddy duty today and stayed home. BUT he was so thrilled to see me when I got home!!! He promptly ate his dinner and informed me he was ready to go 'night-night'. So, he got all of his animals and set up shop in our bed!!
We go to the dr. in the morning......I think it's the flu. Hope not, but I think so! Hopefully, his flu shot will make it not so bad. Plus, I hope Jn and I don't get it!
